System Administration

The focus of this section is on routine administration; refer to Workspace Administration and other chapters for additional important information on installing and administering BMC FootPrints Service Core.  To access the System Administration options, select Administration | System from the BMC FootPrints Service Core Toolbar.

Only the System Administrator can set system-wide options. 

The options are:

• BMC FootPrints Service CoreVersion—The version of BMC FootPrints Service Core running on the server is listed at the top of this screen.
• Workspaces —Create, delete, and manage Workspaces.
• Configuration Manager—Configuration Manager is described in detail in Chapter 9: Advanced Features.
• Appearance
• System Preferences —Configure system-wide settings.
• Languages —Configure multiple language support.
• Colors —Change the display colors forBMC FootPrints Service Core.
• Date and Time Format —Select American, European or ISO format.
• Features
• Configure Email —Set upBMC FootPrints Service Core to handle incoming email requests.
• Asset Management—Set up asset management tool
• Instant Talk —Configure settings for Instant Talk one-on-one chat feature.
• Attachments —Attachment restrictions
• Users
• User Management —Change user’s password, add or delete user to/from BMC FootPrints Service Core.
• Auto Add Customers —Allow Customers to be added automatically and assign these users to be assigned to particular workspaces.
• Configure Authentication —Select password authentication type: FootPrints, Windows, UNIX or LDAP.
• Customer Forgot Password —Allow customers to request a password reminder email.
• User Roles —Create and manage system default roles for Agents and customers.

• License Management—Get and install a new license, show the details of your current license.
• Broadcast Message—Broadcast a message to all logged in users.
• Logs—View and manage system logs.
• Web Server and/or Database Migration—Essential information you must read before doing a migration.
• Server Benchmark—Test server performance.
• Server Performance Report—Miscellaneous statistics for diagnosing performance problems.
• Debug Manager—Manage debugging tools.
• FootPrints User Group—Link to the BMC FootPrints Service Core Tech Community to share ideas, modifications, and questions with other BMC FootPrints Service Core users.

Note

System Administrators are automatically given Workspace Administration privileges in all workspaces.
