Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager/Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS)

If your organization uses Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager/Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) for tracking PC-based inventory, you can take advantage of that data from within BMC FootPrints Service Core.  BMC FootPrints Service Core with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager/SMS integration allows help desk agents to dynamically access PC asset data for a user from within an Issue in BMC FootPrints Service Core.  This automated process saves time, help agents solve users' Issues quickly, and ensures data accuracy.

When you are creating or editing an Issue from within BMC FootPrints Service Core, you can view the hardware, software, and network information in the SMS inventory database for a particular machine or user and import that data into the Issue with a click of the mouse.  This information becomes part of the Issue's history and is searchable from the BMC FootPrints Service Core Advanced Search and Reporting tools.  The BMC FootPrints Service Core administrator can set up the link to SMS in just a few minutes via the BMC FootPrints Service Core web interface.  It can be enabled on a per Workspace basis.

Note

Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager/SMS support is an optional add-on to BMC FootPrints Service Core and must be licensed.  Please contact your BMC sales representative or BMC FootPrints Service Core distributor for more information.

NOTE

The Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager/SMS add-on only works with the Windows versions of BMC FootPrints Service Core. It does not work with the Linux or UNIX versions. This is because it requires Windows libraries on the BMC FootPrints Service Core server.

There are two steps to setting up BMC FootPrints Service Core to work with SMS:
